There is nothing that can compare to actually being with us on our property, joining in our Common House activities or visiting on our porches and in our homes. We really wish you were here in person! We do hope that these videos and pictures give you a peek and a hint of who, what and where we are.
Oakcreek is a fabulous cohousing community located on 7.5 beautiful acres in the middle of Stillwater, Oklahoma— a small-town with a big university (Oklahoma State University) vibe. Besides walking/biking trails, Boomer Lake and close-by shopping we enjoy easy access to tons of sporting events, cultural activities, educational and recreational resources. There is always a group of Oakcreekers heading off to some event…so, hop on in…we’ll go together. Click on in as our drone video swoops in to show you our neighborhood…
Everyone at Oakcreek has a different story about how they became interested in cohousing. “NO WAY” was Bonnie interested in cohousing or Oakcreek. Was it curiosity or politeness that brought Bonnie for a tour? No, as Bonnie says, “just being nosy.” Listen to Bonnie tell her experience of finding “home” at Oakcreek.
At Oakcreek, we always say, “You’re not buying a house; you’re buying a community and a great house comes with it!” Our homes ARE beautiful, right-sized, energy efficient, quiet and filled with natural light. Welcome inside a sample of our homes…homes that are a bonus when you “buy” the community. And the community is priceless!
Oakcreek is lucky to be located in a university and education town. We have numerous opportunities to interact with students from OSU and Meridian Technology Center. The students have consulted us in research projects, helped us with work days, taken tours (they “get” cohousing immediately!), and recruited us for class projects. Involvement with the students and their learning keeps us young and our brains sharp (as they can be). Technology Center students did this remarkable video of the beautiful property and, most importantly, some of the beautiful people who live here.
The thoughtful design of Oakcreek facilitates the basic and very important cohousing values of social interaction and relationship. So, what happens when you have to keep social distance and Shelter-in-Place (not hard for introverts!)? You play music from the terrace and learn to dance (or not) the Hokey Pokey, Macarena or Electric Slide; you have dinners with lots of distance; and, you create your own Easter Sunrise Service. See how we have entertained ourselves, checked in on each other, enjoyed time outside and kept our spirits up at Oakcreek. And laughed a lot.
